Advocates for greater gender equality in the passenger transport sector have urged employers to be pro-active.
Ahead of International Women’s Day 2026, this edition of Passenger Transport contains a 13-page section on ‘Women in Passenger Transport 2026’. Contributors include Sonya Byers, CEO of Women in Transport and Laura Hadzik, the new chair of Women in Bus and Coach.
Hadzik says “momentum is growing” with more women entering in the sector than ever before, but urges more action.
If we want a stronger, more innovative sector, we must ensure women are not just included, but empowered
“Progress cannot be passive,” she writes. “It must be intentional … International Women’s Day is a reminder that equality is not inevitable, it is built, step by step, through action, commitment and leadership.
“And in bus and coach, the future is clear: if we want a stronger, more resilient, more innovative sector, we must ensure women are not just included, but empowered.”
