Its National Apprenticeship Week and the passenger transport sector is highlighting what it offers
Transport organisations, such as bus manufacturer Wrightbus, have been highlighting the power of apprenticeships
Employers in the passenger transport sector have been using National Apprenticeship Week 2026 (February 9-15) to highlight how they offer hands-on experience, structured learning, and the opportunity to build
long-term careers.
Transport for London is offering 157 roles this year across a variety of locations. It welcomed work and pensions secretary Pat McFadden to the Railway Engineering Works in Acton, where he saw first-hand how apprentices learn to repair trains and railways and spent time talking to them about their apprenticeships and future careers.
McFadden commented: “Every young person deserves the chance to build a rewarding career, and apprenticeships like these at TfL show what investing in young people can achieve. These 157 apprenticeships are launchpads for young people’s future careers.”
To mark National Apprenticeship Week, this edition of Passenger Transport features a special section – Apprenticeships 2026 – highlighting the role of apprenticeships in the sector.
