Operator moves to TK300 consoles and Tap On/Tap Off tech

Transdev has replaced its older TK200 units

Transdev Blazefield has completed the deployment of Ticketer’s Tap On/Tap Off (TOTO) contactless technology across its 472-strong Yorkshire bus fleet, alongside a fleetwide upgrade to the supplier’s TK300 driver consoles.

The move marks a significant step in the operator’s long-running digital transformation strategy, designed to speed up boarding, simplify ticketing and improve service reliability.

The TK300 consoles, which replace older TK200 units, offer faster processing and an improved driver interface. Rather than replacing entire ETMs, Transdev used Ticketer’s modular upgrade path, swapping out key components to reduce cost while enabling access to the latest functionality.

The tap-on/tap-off system allows passengers to pay by contactless without selecting a ticket when boarding. Fares are capped automatically, reducing the need for cash and speeding up dwell times. Ticketer says boarding times can be up to 70% faster with TOTO in place.

These innovations are helping us remove barriers to travel and create a more seamless experience

Transdev commercial director Paul Turner said: “Our partnership with Ticketer continues to deliver real benefits for our customers and our business. The rollout of Tap On/Tap Off technology, alongside the new TK300 devices, marks a major step forward in our mission to make bus travel faster and easier for our colleagues and customers. These innovations are helping us remove barriers to travel and create a more seamless experience for everyone.”

The project extends Transdev’s partnership with Ticketer, which began in 2014. Ticketer has worked with multiple UK operators to roll out contactless and multi-operator ticketing, but the scale of Transdev’s Yorkshire deployment is among the most extensive to date.

Adam Toone, chief commercial and operations officer at Ticketer, said: “These latest deployments highlight our shared commitment to innovation and improving the passenger experience. We look forward to seeing the positive impact they will bring to Transdev’s services and the communities they serve.”
