With US companies rushing to scale back diversity and inclusion initiatives in response to hostility from President Trump, campaigners for a greater diversity and inclusion in UK passenger transport remain committed to the cause.

Ahead of International Women’s Day 2025, this edition of Passenger Transport contains a 10-page section on ‘Women in Passenger Transport 2025’. Contributors include Sonya Byers, CEO of Women in Transport and Louise Cheeseman, chair of Women in Bus and Coach.

Chloe Leach O’Connell, co-chair and co-founder of Women in Transport’s D&I Bus Group, writes: “Let’s be honest, we only have to take a look around us to realise that this is very much ‘mission not accomplished’.”

She adds: “It certainly feels like a different world, a different landscape, and that just makes everything more important; it simply amplifies the importance of all our efforts.”
