Sir Brian Souter will retire from his role as chief executive of Stagecoach on May 1, 2013, and hand over the reins to finance director Martin Griffiths

Sir Brian Souter is handing over the day-to-day management of Stagecoach to finance director Martin Griffiths. From May 1, 2013, the group’s co-founder will give up his role as chief executive and take up the role of chairman, replacing Sir George Mathewson, who is retiring. Griffiths, who has been with the group since 1998, will become chief executive.

Commenting on the changes, Souter said: “I remain committed to the success of Stagecoach and consider now to be an appropriate time to plan to take a step back from the day-to-day management of the business.”
